Combination of drugs may also impair renal function so severely that the kidneys may stop. B vitamins or grapefruit juice taken in combination with statins may have the same effect on the kidneys.

Warfarin is given to people to prevent blood clots in the blood vessels medication. People who have had a heart attack, stroke or have dentures are prescribed warfarin. The drug should not be taken with SSRIs, erythromycin, antifunglas, ciprofloxacin, omeprazole, amiodarone or trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole. Taking warfarin with these drugs can cause the metabolism of warfarin to be affected, increasing its anticoagulant properties.
